Flaxseeds The world’s healthiest food

The seeds of most plants are rich in nutrients and can provide us with health benefits. Yet flax seeds are also nutritionally unique and offer us health benefits not found across the board within the seeds food group.
The first unique feature of flax is its high omega-3 fatty acid content. Among all 127 Worlds Healthiest Foods, flaxseeds comes out number one as a source of omega-3s!
The second unique feature of flaxseed is its lignans. Lignans are fibre-like compounds, but in addition to their fiber-like benefits, they also provide antioxidant protection due to their structure as polyphenols. The unique structure of lignans gives them a further health-supportive role to play. Sesame seeds come in second, but contain only one-seventh of the total lignans as flaxseeds.
The third unique feature of flaxseeds is their mucilage (gum) content. "Mucilage" refers to water-soluble, gel-forming fiber that can provide special support to the intestinal tract.
The fourth excellent feature of flaxseeds is they are rich in vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals. They are rich source of vitamin E, C, K, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, B6, Folate, B12, Pantothenic acid, Choline, and Betine. Minerals- Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese and Selenium.
This combination of features—omega-3 fatty acids, high-lignan content, minerals and vitamins and  mucilage gums—is a key factor in the unique health benefits of flaxseeds.
Here is some examples of the health benefits from flaxseeds--
Ideal for Weight Watchers - Flax seeds are very low in carbohydrates and suitable for people intending to limit their intake of starch and sugar. It is 100% vegetarian and can be used as an egg substitute in baked products.
Beneficial for Women - Research has indicated that flax seeds are useful to improve the chances of a woman conceiving a baby. It helps to regulate ovulation process and restore hormonal balance in the body. For women in the post menopausal stage it has been known to protect cardiovascular disease.
Aids Digestion - Being rich in fibre these seeds act as natural laxative
Anti Carcinogenic Properties - Increased levels of Lignans present in flax seeds help in protecting against cancer of the breast and prostate.
Recent studies have suggested that flaxseed have a protective effect against breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer. At least two of the components in flaxseed seem to contribute,
The plant omega-3 fatty acid found in flaxseed, called ALA, inhibited tumour incidence and growth. And the antioxidant properties, which contribute to protection against cancer and heart disease.

Flaxseed in Dr. Budwig diet to treat Cancer:-

In 1928 Dr Warburg who was awarded The Noble prize for his research, proved that lack of Oxygen absorbing capacity of  cells is the root cause of the cancer. In absence of Oxygen, Cancer cells respire by anaerobic method and lactic acid is formed. He pointed out that cells need sulphur protein and some unknown fats to retain their oxygen absorbing capacity. He passed away before he could trace these unknown fats.
Picking up where Dr. Warburg left off, European Cancer Research Scientist and Physicist and seven times Noble nominee Dr. Johanna Budwig discovered the reason why our healthy cells become anaerobic and she finally found the Warburg’s unknown fats. Those were Linolenic  and Linolenic acid(LA, ALA).

She noticed that Cancer patients do lack Linolenic acid, good lipoprotein and Phosphatides. She treated thousands of her cancer patients successfully with Cottage cheese and flaxseeds. As flaxseeds are excellent source of ALA Omega3 and cottage cheese is the source of Sulphurated protein. Amazingly, Dr. Budwig found that after only three short months on her budwig flax oil-quark combination, cancer patients began to improve. See her full article- www.budwigcenter.com/budwig-protocol.php

Cardiovascular Disease
Research suggests that plant omega-3s help the cardiovascular system through several different mechanisms, including anti-inflammatory action and normalizing the heartbeat. It also has significant blood pressure-lowering effects. These effects may be due to both the omega-3 fatty acids as well as the amino acid groups found in flaxseed.
Flaxseed prevents hardening of the arteries and keep plaque from being deposited in the arteries partly by keeping white blood cells from sticking to the blood vessels’ inner linings.
Lignans in flaxseed have been shown to reduce atherosclerotic plaque build up by up to 75%.
Diabetes
Preliminary research also suggests that daily intake of the lignans in flaxseed may modestly improve blood sugar (as measured by haemoglobin A1c blood tests in adults with type 2 diabetes).
Inflammation
Two components in flaxseed, ALA and lignans, may reduce the inflammation that accompanies certain illnesses (such as Parkinsons disease and asthma) by helping block the release of certain pro-inflammatory agents.
ALA has been shown to decrease inflammatory reactions in humans. And studies in animals have found that lignans can decrease levels of several pro-inflammatory agents.
Hot Flashes
Flaxseed may cut hot flashes upto half and also may reduce its intensity by 57%. The women noticed a difference after taking the daily flaxseed for just one week and achieved the maximum benefit within two weeks.
How to consume flaxseeds?
Flax seeds are indeed wonder seeds. However, it is not advisable to consume it in large quantities or by people suffering from allergies of any kind. You must always start eating a small quantity of the seeds to begin with. Half or a quarter teaspoon will suffice for experimenting initially.
You must watch out for a few days and look for signs of allergic reactions or other gastrointestinal problems which the seeds may cause after consumption. In case you do not notice any adverse side effects you can gradually increase the intake of flax seeds up to two tablespoons a day.
Here are some of the different ways in which flaxseeds can be used.
Grinding Flax Seeds- By consuming ground flax seed you can derive maximum health benefits from it. For grinding simply put the seeds in a blender or a coffee grinder. Mix the powdered seeds in any recipe of your choice in moderate quantity.
Boiled Flax Seeds - Flax seeds can be boiled with soups and hot cereals. However, very small quantities must be used for boiling since excessive use of seeds can produce a kind of slime and a weird taste.

Raw Flax Seeds- Raw flax seeds give a soft crunch and nutty taste to foods. However when eaten raw it must be chewed thoroughly failing which it will get ejected from the body undigested. This essentially amounts to eating the seeds without deriving its nutritive benefits.

What to eat before and after workouts

People do exercises for different purposes. Some do it to stay healthy and improve overall health. Some people do it to get relief from some physical troubles as prescribed by doctors. Some do it to lose weight and many of people perform exercises to build, develop lean muscles and stamina. Different purposes need different workouts. They spend different levels of calories. So they need different diets. To perform better in workouts and to get best results of workouts, a better support of diet is always needed. To lose weight, we need to reduce the calories. To reduce the calories, first of all we need to know actually how much calories we need to maintain our currentweight? Now we have to reduce the calories from the calories we need tomaintain the weight. If we reduce 500 calories per day, we will lose one pound in a week, four pounds in a month. Reducing calories more than this limit is not scientific and harmful. So if you wish to reduce weight more than one pound per week, you have to spend more calories by doing exercises. In fact only reducing calories may not work properly. Because only slight variation in oils and sugar may add lots of calories. So best way is to target to reduce 1000 calories per day by combining diet and exercises to lose weight anywhere between one and two pounds. You have to reduce 500 calories in diet and target to burn 500 extra calories in exercises. Muscles store excess energy in the form of glycogen and protein and, when you work out, the body burns fuel from your pre-workout meal, and then it breaks down glycogen stored in muscles. After workouts not only calories are burnt, some muscles are also damaged. You need to repair your muscles and boost your energy level fast. Fueling exercise requires quality carbohydrates, lean protein, heart-healthy fats, and fluids.

Now coming back to the topic, to get support of energy and to keep you hydrated during workouts, to repair damaged muscles, to regain lost fluids and nutrients and some energy it is important what you eat after workouts. Once you ensure you’re getting all of your totals right for the day, the meals directly surrounding your workouts are next in line in terms of the amount of impact and influence it has on the results you get. Pre and post eating also depends upon timing and intensity of workouts.

Pre workout meal
Pre workout meal is important for you because they are fueling and maximizing your workouts throughout. They are very crucial in the sense, they reduce glycogen depletion, protein breakdown (protein break down in the muscles reduces the lean muscle mass, which is definitely not the goal of workouts) and reduce post workout Cortisol levels.
To fuel your workouts and to avoid the above mentioned situations your body needs two things- carbohydrate and protein. Now there are many things to explain, like food depending your time of exercise, amount, purpose etc.
I think it will be better If I explain one single formula applicable in all situations. Easy to understand and easy in application too. Here I am not recommending any specific item that you may choose, we will discuss it later. However whole wheat bread sandwiched with slices of Banana is a perfect example of mix carb. May include yogurt or slices of egg to complete.
There are two options:-
Option one
Eat before 60-90 minutes before workouts have solid balanced meal containing
a)      Carbohydrate containing 0.55gm per kg of your target body weight.
b)      Protein containing 0.55gm per kg of your target body weight.
Option two
Eat before 30 or less minutes- have a liquid food, may be taken 30 or less minutes before workouts or even sipped during workouts.
  •  Carbohydrate containing 0.55gm per kg of your target body weight.
  • Protein containing 0.55gm per kg of your target body weight.

If your workouts going to last for more than hours, sure option two will be more applicable. Have carbs simple and complex mixed so that the release of energy during your workout is slow and steady throughout your routine. Also keeping yourself hydrated is important. So keep sipping little water before and during the workouts.

Post-Exercise Eating Tips
Post workout meal is important for the recovery of the energy, water, minerals and muscle damages during the workouts. It should be well optimised to fulfil all recovery needs, so that your body improves the way you want.
Specifically the goal of your post workout meal should be to replenish the depleted muscle glycogen during workouts, reduce protein breakdown, reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, reduce Cortisol levels and enhance muscle protein synthesis and overall recovery.
Immediately after the workouts our body is in the recovery mode and ready to accept protein and carbs and nutrients to utilise them to recover the losses occurred during the workouts and to adapt the body according to the changing circumstances. To meet all the requirements, the body once again needs Protein and Carbohydrates along with of course some fluid and or fruits having minerals.
Window of opportunity:Research suggests there is a window of opportunity, which lasts up to one hour after a workout. Some studies have showed that participants who consumed protein immediately after their workout gained significantly more muscle size and strength than those who consumed it after two hours their workout.
Most people also feel that calorie partitioning is at its very best at this time, so people often make this their largest meal of the day. For all of these reasons, it’s most often recommended to consume your post workout meal as soon after your workout as you can. Of course that does not mean, finish your run or put down the weights and eat. It means you should take your meal within or before 60 minutes of workouts or better within 30 minutes.
Here again I will recommend to go to the same formula we opted before the workouts. That is consume protein to the amount 0.55gm of per kg of target body weight and mixed carbs to the amount 0.55 to 1.1gm of pre kg of target body weight, depending upon duration and intensity of workouts. In post workout meal you are free to opt solid, liquid food, you may take even more calories and protein, what suits you better. Also it may be your biggest meal of the day. But keep in mind, your total calories intake should be as per target and you should not go for starvation afterwards.
Also, after you exercise, drink plenty of water or even better coconut water to rehydrate your body. Research shows that fatigue during exercise can be related to low levels of water and stored carbohydrates. Since we use carbohydrates as energy during exercise (including many forms of resistance training), we need to replenish these storage depots after a workout. This will assist weight trainers but is especially important for people who do a lot of aerobic exercise (more than 60 minutes).
Some example food:
As we have already discussed the amount of protein and carb required to our body, before and after workouts. Here are some example foods. For quantities of these foods to get the desired amount of carbs and proteins, please see the serving lists.
  • Try a bowl of oatmeal, whole-grain cereal, whole-wheat toast, or even sweet potato as a pre-workout meal ( Whole-grain cereal or oatmeal, with milk and fruit -such as a sliced banana). Banana is one of the most perfect pre and post workout foods as they are full of complex carbs, minerals such as potassium and fibre.
  • Eating nuts and seeds at dinner can give you energy for evening workouts because they cover all of your macronutrient bases, containing carbs, protein, and fat. Eating a few nuts and seeds during sustained exercise can also provide a boost of energy to keep you going during endurance activities.
  • Drinking coconut water is a great way to replenish electrolytes lost through sweating during a workout. This is especially important if you are exercising in a hot environment.

A Brief Overview Of Crohns Disease

Crohn’s Disease is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation in the digestive tract - from the mouth all the way through to the anus. As a disease, it can be difficult to diagnose due to its similarity to other inflammatory disorders such as ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel syndrome. Crohn’s Disease usually causes inflammation in the lower small intestine, known as the ileum. The inflammation goes deep into the wall of the intestine causing pain and diarrhea. It is not known what causes Crohn’s disease, although it is thought that it may be heredity in nature or the result of a virus or bacterium invading the body. To date no definitive answer has been provided. It effects both males and females and people suffering with this disease also tend to have immune system abnormalities, although whether this is a cause or a result of the disease is unknown. One thing that has been established is that Crohn’s Disease is not caused by stress, although emotional distress can exacerbate the symptoms.Symptoms most commonly experienced by sufferers are severe abdominal pain, accompanied by diarrhea. Some also report bleeding from the rectum, weight loss and fevers. Children who suffer with Crohn’s may experience some developmental and growth delays due to the lack of essential determining if a patient is actually suffering with Crohn’s disease requires a thorough physical exam and a number of tests to be carried out. These can include blood tests tominevitamins and rals absorbed into the body.Due to it’s similarity to other inflammatory diseases and syndromes check for anemia and providing stool samples to check for blood which could indicate an infection or bleeding in the intestines. Further, more invasive tests can also be required, for example drinking a barium liquid and having a series of x-rays taken which will highlight any inflammation or abnormalities. A colonoscopy may be required to confirm the diagnosis as Crohn’s disease. In this case an endoscope is inserted into the anus and up into the large intestine to look for bleeding or inflammation. A small sample of tissue may be taken at this point for further analysis. Once Crohn’s disease has been confirmed further tests may be needed to determine the extent of the inflammation. There is no actual cure for Crohn’s disease, although some people, through proper management, can be free of symptoms for extended periods. The treatment for Crohn’s disease varies from person to person as it depends on the severity of the disease and the area effected. Typically, all treatments aim to reduce the inflammation, relieve the pain, diarrhea and bleeding and ensure that the sufferer has the correct nutritional intake. There are three main ways of achieving these goals, medication, surgery or dietary changes

Why more people are giving up trying to lose weight What to do about it

“ I am giving up trying to lose weight, I have tried so many diets and nothing is really working” This is part of a letter that we received from a reader in the United States, in this post we will explain scientifically why dieting will fail most people. Much of the United States has an obesity problem, what is even more troubling are the numbers of people who have tried dieting but are still not losing the body fat. Giving up the quest to lose weight is how millions of people feel when dieting produces little success.

The worldwide dilemma of getting fatter

Despite the countless numbers of television commercial and diet plans, studies show that obesity is rapidly increasing not only in the USA but worldwide; Australia is suffering from increasing obesity. As reported in the New York Times, obesity rates in Australia has tripled in the last three decades, mirroring the sharp rise that occurred in the United States during roughly the same period. In Australia, at least 60 percent of adults and roughly a quarter of children are overweight or obese. According to research by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, one out of two people in nearly half of all developed countries is overweight or obese. People are trying to lose weight but many are giving up after frequent failed attempts to drop excess body weight.

Why you cannot drop the weight

The reason dieting does not work for millions can be explained scientifically, it is crucial to see how the food today causes the body to hold fat. Over 80 percent of all diets fail and this is due to inflammation. It is worldwide Inflammation that is causes of our ADHD, Diabetes, weight gain and eczema increases today; over 100 million people in the United States suffers from inflammation related obesity and belly fat. It is not uncommon to see thin people who still carrying belly fat, this is due to inflammation. Losing weight today is much different than 40 years, the food today is highly processed and causes the body to hold fat, this is backed by solid science studies.

Inflammation and Fat in the body

According to Department of Social Medicine, School of Medicine, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil, it is in fact inflammation why dieting does not work, the conclusion from their study was that “inflammatory mediators are strongly associated with obesity syndrome”
Researchers have know for over 40 years that a diabetic style diet causes weight loss in people with or weight out diabetes. We have shown thousands of people how a diabetic sty;le diet causes fat losss in people with or weight out diabetes. Thousands of people who reversed their inflammation from processed foods lost body fat and this is proof that addressing inflammation from our modern processed foods today causes weight loss.

Those who are thinking about giving up trying to lose weight should know dropping fat does not come from celebrities but from science. Reverse the inflammation that our polluted and processed foods create today and the body fat is dropped.

Sharpen your brain and health with Omega 3

Omega 3’s are a group of unsaturated fatty acids, and include alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).  EPA and DHA have the most research for health benefits, and are mostly available in seafood.  The body can convert some of the ALA consumed from foods into EPA and DHA in the body, but in a much smaller amount than eating foods rich in DHA.
DHA is a primary structural component of the human brain, cerebral cortex, skin, sperm, testicles and retina. DHA comprises 40% of the PUFA in the brain and 60% of the PUFA in the retina. Fifty present of the weight of a neurons plasma membrane is composed of DHA. DHA is also very essential for developing foetus and healthy breast milk. According to a study conducted in UK reveals that Blood levels of DHA and other Omega-3 fatty acids are directly related to measures of cognition and behaviour of school children with below reading ability.
Low Omega-3 LC- PUFA and DHA predict behaviour and learning problems in looking healthy but underperforming students. Thus an increased dietary intake will be beneficial.
DHA is richly supplied during breastfeeding, and DHA levels are high in breast milk regardless of dietary choices. That’s why mother’s milk is the best food for the infants. However rich DHA foods to pregnant women increases the level of DHA in breast milk. DHA levels in breast milk are higher if a mothers diet is high in fish. The Food and Drug Administration has noted specific concerns for women who are pregnant or might become pregnant, nursing mothers, and young children regarding mercury levels in fish and shellfish.
DHA has recently gained attention as a supplement for pregnant women, noting studies of improved attention and visual acuity. Given the recently gained attention, the majority of pregnant women fail to get the recommended amount of DHA in their diets
DHA is a major fatty acid in sperm and brain phospholipids and in the retina. Dietary DHA may reduce the risk of heart disease by reducing the level of blood triglycerides in humans. Below-normal levels of DHA have been associated with Alzheimers disease. DHA deficiency likely plays a role in decline of mental function in healthy adults.
EFA (essential fatty acids) deficiency and Omega 6/3 imbalance is linked with serious health conditions, such as heart attacks, cancer, insulin resistance, asthma, lupus, schizophrenia, depression, postpartum depression, accelerated aging, stroke, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, ADHD, and Alzheimers Disease, among others.

symptoms indicate a need for more high-omega-3 foods?
  • Depression
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Fatigue
  • Dry, itchy skin
  • Brittle hair and nails

  • Inability to concentrate
  • Joint pain

Sources of DHA Omega 3 fatty acids include:
1. Fishes- Salmon(Rohu), Tuna, Swordfish
Salmon has the highest content of DHA of any fish source, ranging from 2000 to 3000 milligrams per 6 ounce serving. Wild salmon has more usable fish oil than farm-raised salmon.
Flaxseed and Flexseed oil (flaxseed oil has the highest linolenic content of any food),  hempseed and Hempseed oil, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, avocados, some dark leafy green vegetables (kale, spinach, purslane, mustard greens, collards, etc.),Olive oil,  mustard oil, canola oil (cold-pressed and unrefined), soybean oil, wheat germ oil, tofu.(All oils are similar in terms of calories, so they must be consumed in moderation).
Algae is a source of DHA omega 3’s that even vegans find suitable, and can be purchased as a supplement product.

Fake Sugar in the diet used by food makers to get you addicted

The Food making business is dirty and ruthless, the food makers add sugar to the diet in just enough quantities to cause an addiction. What is even more alarming is that the kind of sugars that they are using in not “real sugars” at all but a processed syrup version linked to obesity and even cancer. Sugar in the diet is a controversial subject because the humble sweetener that was on your grandma’s kitchen table is not the same thing added to the foods in your supermarket

The not so Sweet truth

The sugars that are added to the food today are actually high fructose corn syrups(not the normal white power you grew up with), check the labels of any product today and you will find HFCS, the makers want you to believe it is the sweetener on your grandmas kitchen table but it is a whole different product, it is produced in a laboratory and is dangerously addictive. The food makers loves this produce because it is addictive and you of-course buy more. The food game is all about money not nutrition, just like the street drug dealer selling crack the supermarkets are doing the same thing with food drugs. This is a dirty business and better stop your food drug addiction.

There are practically no foods on the market today that do not add High Fructose Corn Syrup, like crack it is cheap and addictive, unlike crack it causes obesity and cancer.

See Below: This is NOT table Grandmass table sugar

Sugar in the Diet: HFCS is not the same sweetener as table sugar! To add to the confusion the makers of HFCS wanted there product to be called “sugars” to fool the public, the FDA stopped this from happening.

Think about this for a minute: Without the public knowing the makers of HFCS tried to fool you into thinking it is the same thing as the sugars we grew up with, the FDA

"Whats going on here is basically a con game to suggest otherwise," .Dan Callister, a lawyer for the Sugar Association

"What do con men do? They normally try to change their name. The FDA has thankfully stopped that."Callister said

If you are overeating Spirit Happy has shown people for 5 years in 17 different countries that the food makers are purposely making you fat!

You probably dont know it but most people today have food addictions, we are addicted to sugars, salts, and all kinds of foods but it is not your fault. The food game is a war for billions of dollars and if you believe that the food makers would care about your being addicted to the product you are very naive.

They want you drugged so they maker many more billions. Artificial sweeteners like Splenda,Equal and Sweet and low are worst, and should never be consumed. What you want to do is break the sugar in the diet addiction and use real sugar responsibly. .

It is a war for your body, HFSC causes aging and cancer, it literally changes the cells of the body to cancerous. Over 1,000 people broke their sugar in the diet addiction and lose 25 pounds in one month
